Railway Recruitment Boards are conducting the RRB Group D / Level-1 CBT 2026 under Centralised Employment Notice CEN 09/2025 for 22,195 vacancies. The exam is being held in multiple phases during August 2026, and the city intimation slip and e-call letter are being released candidate-wise according to the allotted exam date.
Current status on 16 August 2026: CBT dates from 3–14 August have already passed. The remaining officially scheduled dates are 17–21 August and 25 August 2026.
Important schedule correction: Some pages show the exam only up to 21 August. The Railway Recruitment Boards revised the schedule on 30 July 2026 and added 25 August 2026. The complete revised CBT schedule is 3–6, 9–14, 17–21 and 25 August 2026.
Admit card is phase-wise: There is no single universal admit-card release date for every candidate. RRB states that the Exam City & Date link becomes live about 10 days before the candidate's exam, while the e-call letter starts about 4 days before the exam date.
Qualification correction: The official CEN does not require “10th + ITI” together. The minimum qualification is 10th pass OR ITI OR equivalent OR National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT, subject to the post/rule conditions in CEN 09/2025.

How to Download RRB Group D Admit Card 2026
Open the official Railway Recruitment Board website for CEN 09/2025.
Open the City Intimation / E-Call Letter link for Level-1 CBT.

Candidates should use the latest CEN 09/2025 notification/corrigenda for Railway/RRC-wise, category-wise and PwBD suitability details because annexures were revised through corrigenda.
Educational Qualification – Correct Rule
Minimum qualification:
10th pass OR ITI OR equivalent OR National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT.
This means a candidate should not interpret the rule as “10th pass plus ITI” for every Level-1 post. Eligibility is governed by the precise qualification against the selected post in the latest CEN and its corrigenda.
Railway-trained Course Completed Act Apprentices (CCAAs) have separate notified provisions. A general engineering diploma/degree should not automatically be assumed to substitute an ITI/NAC qualification unless the CEN specifically permits it for the relevant post.
Age Limit & Salary
Minimum age: 18 years.
Maximum age: 33 years.
Age cut-off: 1 January 2026.
SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen and other eligible candidates receive relaxation according to the CEN/Government rules.
Initial pay: ₹18,000 in Level 1 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix, plus admissible allowances.
CBT Exam Pattern
Section | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|
General Science | 25 | 25 |
Mathematics | 25 | 25 |
General Intelligence & Reasoning | 30 | 30 |
General Awareness & Current Affairs | 20 | 20 |
Total | 100 | 100 |
Duration: 90 minutes.
Scribe-eligible candidates: 120 minutes.
Negative marking: 1/3 mark deducted for each wrong answer.
Scores are normalised where the CBT is held in multiple shifts.
General Science broadly covers Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences at Class 10 CBSE level.
Minimum Shortlisting Percentage
Category | Minimum Percentage |
|---|---|
UR | 40% |
EWS | 40% |
OBC-NCL | 30% |
SC | 30% |
ST | 30% |
For PwBD candidates, a relaxation of up to 2 marks may be considered in shortage situations as provided in the CEN.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Candidate | Weight Carry Test | Running Test |
|---|---|---|
Male | Lift & carry 35 kg for 100 metres in 2 minutes without putting the weight down; one chance. | 1,000 metres in 4 minutes 15 seconds; one chance. |
Female | Lift & carry 20 kg for 100 metres in 2 minutes without putting the weight down; one chance. | 1,000 metres in 5 minutes 40 seconds; one chance. |
The weight-carry test is conducted first. Failure in it eliminates the candidate before the running test.
PET is qualifying in nature.
PwBD candidates are exempt from PET, subject to prescribed medical standards.
Railway-trained Course Completed Act Apprentices are exempt from PET under the notified provisions.
Eligible Ex-Servicemen are exempt from PET but remain subject to applicable physical/medical requirements.
Transgender candidates are given the female PET standards under the CEN provision.
Application Fee & Refund – Correct Rule
Candidate Category | Fee | Refund After Appearing in CBT |
|---|---|---|
All candidates except concession categories | ₹500 | ₹400 minus applicable bank charges |
SC / ST / ExSM / PwBD / Female / Transgender / Minorities / EBC | ₹250 | ₹250 minus applicable bank charges |
OBC/EWS refund correction: OBC or EWS status by itself does not automatically place a candidate in the ₹250 concession slab. Unless the candidate also belongs to another notified concession category, a ₹500-fee candidate receives the ₹400 refund after actually appearing in CBT.
Under this CEN, the EBC fee-concession category should not be confused with OBC or EWS; it is defined separately under the Railway notification. Refund is subject to the official bank/Aadhaar-seeding process and successful appearance in the CBT.
Selection Process
Computer Based Test (CBT).
Physical Efficiency Test (PET) for candidates not exempted under the rules.
Document Verification (DV).
Medical Examination as per the medical standard of the allotted post.
Final empanelment / appointment subject to merit, vacancy, eligibility and Railway rules.
RRB normally shortlists candidates for PET Railway/RRC-wise at around three times the community-wise vacancies, subject to merit and Railway requirements. After PET, candidates are ordinarily called for DV/Medical in a 1:1 ratio to vacancies, subject to the CEN provisions.
Items to Avoid at the Exam Centre
Follow the e-call letter for the final prohibited-items list. In general, candidates should not carry electronic gadgets or unauthorised material such as:
Mobile phones, Bluetooth devices or communication gadgets
Smart/digital watches
Calculators
Loose papers, notes or books
Any other banned item mentioned in the e-call letter
Use only the stationery and materials permitted/provided at the examination centre.
